Sandwiches somehow lack the desi feel, whatever you put in between them ! change the menu to bread upma instead, and an indian touch comes alive. Use white or brown bread. This recipe is a great way to use up left over bread. You do not need any side dish for this upma. You can have this even as a tea time snack.

CHILI CHEESE TOAST  cheese toast

Chilli Cheese Toast is a very popular breakfast or snack item among kids. Its more like an open sandwich with bell peppers, chili and cheese. When served along with a glass of fresh fruit juice, it makes a perfect breakfast. I mostly toast breads for sandwiches on stove top. This too could be done without the oven.

serves – 2

making time:- 10 minutes

  • Bread – 4 slices
  • Cheese – 3 tbsp ( mozzarella,cheddar…)
  • Green Chillies – 2
  • Green Capsicum – 2 tbsp cubed
  • Pepper powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Salt – to taste

Cut green chillies finely, cube the capsicum – set aside. Grate cheese in a bowl and mix green chillies and capsicum with it. Add pepper and salt.
Take the bread slice and apply the cheese chilli mixture. Sprinkle seasoning. place it on the tawa again with cheese side up…Do not flip..Cook till cheese melts and serve hot. The browning of cheese will be missing in the stove stop method but the taste will be same .Cut each bread diagonally into half with a  sharp knife and serve hot.
