SPICY FISH FRY:-

Spicy indian fish fry recipe, the freshly ground spices in the marination gives the fishes a unique authentic taste.

Fish is a superfood. Packed with vitamins and minerals, and a major source of omega-3 fatty acids, fish can help to protect against a range of diseases, from cancer to heart disease, depression to arthritis.

INGREDIENTS:-                                       

  1. 10 whole fishes(pomfret or any fish of ur choice)
  2. ginger garlic paste
  3. garam masala powder – 1 tsp
  4. turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
  5. oil for frying
  6. lemon juice/ vinegar – 2 tsp
  7. 2 tsp – cornflour
  8. Cumin seeds -1 tsp
  9. Fennel seeds – 1 tsp
  10. Coriander seeds – 2 tsp
  11. Peppercorns -1 tsp
  12. Dry red chillies  – 6 to 8
  13. Salt – 2 grams (Optional)

METHOD:-
  1.  Wash the fishes well and drain the water.
  2. Heat a non-stick pan and on very low heat , gently dry roast the spices ( cumin,fennel,coriander and peppercorns). Let cool and gring into a fine powder in a mixer grinder. (the freshly ground masala applied for marinating gives the authentic taste).
  3. Take a freezer proof or microwave safe box, add the ground spice mix, ginger garlic paste, lemon juice, garam masala powder, turmeric powder,cornflour, salt and mix well.
  4. Add a tsp of water if needed and make into a smooth,thick paste.Dip the drained fishes in the marination and coat them fully,inside and out.
  5. Keep in the chiller compartment of your refrigerator for at least 2 hrs or overnight (this will make the marination penetrate well into the fishes).
  6. Heat a non-stick pan or gridle and add 2 tsp oil and shallow fry the fishes- 3-4 at a time. After 5 minutes turn the other side and cook on a medium flame.

Serve hot with simple daal chawal ( my fav combo) or rooti , garnished with onions, lemon wedges and fresh corinader leaves.
