ORANGE KHEER

Today i made a orange kheer for the first time. We dont usually have citrus fruits with milk. And this concept was new to me. But i tried it anyway only with half a litre of milk. Alhamdulillah, it was soo….yummy and exotic. Totally diffrent but delicious flavour . Its a must try for those of you, who never tasted it.

Preparation time: 10 mints
Cooking time :15 minutes
Serves -4

Ingredients:-

  • 2 oranges
  • 1/2 ltr milk
  • 3 tsp sugar
  • Saffron
  • 2tsp semolina
  • 1 tsp ghee
  • Saffron

Method:

Take a kadai and heat 1 tsp ghee and roast the semolina in it. Add the milk and let it cook till it is reduced to half. Instead you can even add condensed milk. Till then cut the oranges and take out the outer peel,seeds and inner white later. Roughly chop into little segments and keep aside.

Add sugar to the milk and cook. Now add the crushed saffron and switch off the stove. Let it cool for 10 to 15 mints.   Add the orange segments and chill. We had it after lunch today. The weather being so hot…..eating this kheer chilled was very refreshing. Me and my husband both finished it in one sitting,  though i made four bowls  🙂 .
