Ginger  is one of the ancient, revered medicines of India and Asia. The list of conditions for which it is used is so long that it might prompt skepticism. Ginger’s ability to combat a variety of diseases and conditions is due in part to its impact on excessive inflammation, which is a significant underlying cause of many illnesses.It helps relieve nausea, destroys a host of viruses, and in some laboratory studies has shown promise as an anticancer agent.

Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2″ to 2″ ginger root, remove skin, slice 8 or 9 green chilli
  • 2 garlic cloves (optional)
  • small lemon sized tamarind
  • 1 cup – coriander and mint leaves
  • 1 small onion
  • salt to taste
  • 2-3 tsps oil
  • For tempering/poppu/tadka:
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp oil or ghee

METHOD :  

Make small pieces of tamrind and soak them in a cup of water for an hour. In a mixer jar , put ginger, onion,tamarind,  green chillies, coriander mint leaves and grind finely. Take a kadai, heat oil add the mustard seeds and when they splutter add the grind paste along with salt and cook on low flame for 5 minutes. Cool and store. Keeps for 15 days in a refrigerator.  Can be served with khushka , rice , khichdi. dosa, idli and many more.
