ROSE MILK

Rose milk ……the name itself brings back sweet  memories of childhood. I remember the first time we tasted it, in chennai in a relatives house. This was new to us all ….we dont even know what almond gum was. We asked for the recipie and since then mom  used to make this in summer. She still makes when we go to india. Rose milk, sabza drink. iceapples(munjal) and mangoes these are a must in most homes in summer.

Badam/Almond  gum is naturally extracted from almond tree.. It looks in dirty white colour.It is cheapest item…You may get it from departmental stores or any herbal product shops. It is one of the food substance to cool the body heat as well solves the constipation problem.

makes 4 glasses

Ingredients :-

  • almond gum – 2 tsp
  • whole milk -1 ltr 
  • rose essence- 1tsp
  • roohhafza- 1 cup
  • malai
  • sugar – 2 tsp

METHOD:-

Wash and soak the almond gum in water for at least 4 hrs. Almond gum is a dry resin or gum of almond tree. After soaking it , it absorbs the water and looks like a jelly. semi solid form.  Wash it again and clean any impurities it may have and drain in a colander. Boil milk , add sugar and rose essence and simmer till it is half. cool or refrigerate. In that mix the soaked and drained gum and rohhafza . garnish with malai/cream and serve chilled.
