Everyone in south india would have surely heard and eaten namak paray and besan paray. They are one of the famous savour snack enjoyed at tea  time or as an apptizer. This is my version of it . Made this with a star shaped cookie cutter.

  • 1 cup plain flour (maida)
  • 1 cup besan (bengal gram flour)
  • 2 tsp oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp carom seeds (ajwain)
  • 1 tsp til
  •  1/2 cup water
  • oil to fry

Combine all the ingredients  in a bowl, mix well and knead into a smooth dough adding enough water as required.Cover with damp cloth and set aside at least for fifteen minutes. Knead the dough for another minute and roll into thin chappatis and with cookie cutter cut into desired shapes. Fold the remaining bits and pieces of the dough and again roll and make shapes.

Deep fry them in oil and after cooling, store in an airtight box.Image
